Green Thumb Sunday

What's blooming this lovely Sunday morning?
My neighbor's pink hibiscus that creeps over my fence and offers a bit of shade.

Petunias

Anthirium
Heliconia

Jasmine

Neighbor's vine that my hubby loves

Phalanopsis

Looks like there are LOTS more blooms on the way judging by the number of buds on the bloom spikes!

Dendrobian

Oncidium

And now, some shot of those preparing to bloom or grow!
Notylia

Phaphapedlium

Dendrobian - every year I think this deciduous plant is dead but it comes back. It drops it's leaves and then blooms on the bare canes. I have no idea if I should cut off the old ones or leve them. Any ideas?

Oncidium - thought i had killed this one but there's hope because there's new growth!

Vanda

Vanda

And finally, a little peek at my environment on a Sunday morning. Love the calm & quiet of early morning. The temeprature is perfect!

Green Thumb Sunday

Instead of photo-ing the plants that are blooming, I thought I would show you photos of what is about to bloom! This time next week these plants will look quite different. As always, click for larger images. Here goes:

Actually this one is just starting to open some of the bloom spikes - big difference from yesterday when I peeked at it.

This one is a Native plant named after the city of Tampa. It is quite fragrant.

My psyclops starting to bloom AGAIN

A hanging cattleya in the wooden slatted boxes often used for vanda

This is a dendrobian that looses its leaves and then blooms directly on the canes. How wierd is that?

Looking like another white phal but I believe it should be a yellow one - guess i will know by this time next week!

This beautiful plant will be HOT pink this time next week. Sorry for not giving names of plants. I am in hurry because I need to do a quilt block for Ratbone but I promise to include the names when I repost when everything is in bloom :) Vickie

Garden Finds

Quick look at what is blooming in my habitat :)
The zig zag cactus (above) and close up of its blooms (below). This is really exciting because it is only the 2nd time it has bloomed. If I recall the flowers are BIG.

Two new dendrobian blooms. Violet (above) and green (below).
The all-white Phalanopsis some call the moth orchid - you can see why. I have several blooming but this plain white one is stunning in it's simplicity.

This one is sometimes called the upside down orchid. Anyone who has grown orchids more than month should be able to detemrine why :)

Bouganvilla gone wild - gotta do something about that. I just noticed it is over the fence and taking over my neighbors yard and window, eek!
