Green Thumb Sunday

I just love early mornings to walk around and inspect my orchids. Yesterday I found a beautiful Cattleya in bloom. It was yellow, pink, purple, ivory, and burgndy mixture and had one bloom partially open and another bud waiting to open. I took it to my mom to enjoy while it is blooming. I believe she will find it to be fragrant as well as beautiful. When it is finished blooming, she will return it to my screen porch to enjoy the perfect environment. I just got batteries for my camera so I missed a couple bloomers in the mean time - oh well, there is always next year! Oh, be sure to click on the images for a larger view. They may take a minute to load but are worth it. Vickie

Photo#1 Psychopsis Mariposa - this plat is unusual in that it reblooms on the same spike over and over so you don't cut it off once the flower is spent.
Photo#2 Phalanopsis with Eddie in the background looking for lizards behind the propane tank
Photo#3 Shooting Star? can't find tag but in background you can see into screen porch to see Jerry's feet and Miss Daisey
Photo#4 Elfin Star - a miniature oncidium

Those are beautiful, Vickie. Your orchids look so healthy. I love orchids. Unfortunately, they never do very well for me. I've had 2 in the past and both never made any flowers for me.
