22 Years!!

Twenty two years ago today Jerry and I were married on the beautiful island of Kauaii. Here's one of our wedding photos from that perfect day.

I sent Jerry one of those edible arrangments today. It went to his work so I wasn't able to get a photo before Jerry and the rest of the crew enjoyed it. This is a photo from the web site - same thing just different container. I've always liked these but have never had one. The half dipped chocolate strawberry was particuarly yummy. Below is a photo of 22 carved in pineapple.

When I got home from work mom had left us a cake, a bottle of dessert wine, and a flower arrangment. Great cake - whipped creamed frosting and 4 layers of chocolate cake with chocolate mousse between!

LOL, here is what was left of our anniversary dinner. We have a busy night scheduled because my cousin Diane and her husband Dan are coming tomorrow for the weekend so I brought home Thai food. A little out of the ordinary for us and not too heavy before doing housecleaning.

Carmel Apples, sorta

I can't believe that I spent 4 hours making carmel apples and forgot to take a photo! I was going to make it a tutorial like I see on other's blogs but that wouldn't have worked due to the sticky mess I made of my kitchen and anything I touched.

Thursday night I took a dozen granny smith apples, covered them in carmel, rolled them in either cashews, pecans, or almonds, poured milk chocolate over them and then finally garnished them with white chocolate. I had a lot of melting malfunctions but luckily I bought way too many ingredients. In fact so much so that I mixed the leftover white chocolate with the cashews and the milk chocholate with the pecans and had homemade candy! Sadly, I poured the leftover carmel into the trash :( I mean, what do you do with that stuff? It was half hardened already.

When I lived in Kodiak I made a batch of these every year for the Human Society to tell at the big AAUW bazzar as a fundraiser. I sometimes used red hots, coconut, sprinkels, little chocholate chips, etc. But nuts seem to be the fav so I'm sticking with those these days,

Look what the UPS truck brought this week! A friend (the one with the ocean quilt in earlier post) sent me congratulatory Godiva chocolates for finishing school. Yummy! The first one I chose was the nut covered one in the photo (the one on right) and it was RICH.

I was especially excited because the box was packaged with two ice packs - I've been using them for my foot. For some reason I just love having the fancy Godiva label on my ice pack!
