Dog Art

Last fall, when Blogspot was not working for me, I discovered Pixler online and had some fun making collages and adding special effects to photos. Best part, it's free! Well, I don't seem to be able to format the photos and captions so I will add before the photos: 1) the beautiful Miss Daisey, 2) my former foster Jake, 3) Daisey, Eddie, and Woody beach shots.

Since We Missed Halloween

Looks like my blog is sorta working now.......can barely see parts of it when I create a new post and to post a photo I have to save it somewhere else and enter the URL here. Thought I woud share some photos we missed posting while it was down. Starting with Halloween!

Diamond
She's no witch - in fact, she is a good little poser because she minds well. the only problem photoing her is that she will get bored and lay down.

Daisey
Who knew when we took this photo that she soon would be an angel?

Eddie
What can I say? Impossible to photo him because he gets too excited when you put a costume on him. He is in a gnome costume but the girls can call him "Gnomio" :)

Carnival Season!

Mardi Gras is February 12th this year so it's time to put up the wreath and eat king cake. This year I made myself new wreaths for my doors (the old one were getting faded in the florida sun) and I bought supplies to make a garland for my fireplace but made a wreath for my cousin Erica with them instead.

Christmas Photo Journal 2012

One Month Anniversary

Today is the one month anniversary of the loss of our beloved Daisey. It seems like only two or three days because we miss her and her routines so much.

Christmas was really somber without her. Didn't realize until she was such a central part of things until she wasn't there. She was always in the middle of gift opening and paper ripping although she didn't open gifts like Eddie does - she was just curious as to what was in the paper and had her head in there. Then she would check out the gifts one by one. She pranced around in her Christmas outfit and enjoyed a nice meal from the table. She also visited everyone in the house and got her share of pats and belly rubs.

I guess life goes on and every time I start to replay those last moments of finding her not breathing, I have to force myself to think of a pleasant moment with her.

We joke how it is so easy to feed the dogs now. Diamond, our foster, inhales her food instantaneously. Eddie is focused and stays on task until he finished. Daisey, on the other hand, was a grazer. She would take a bite, walk around the living room, take another bite, do a lap outside around the pool, take another bite, etc. It took her about an hour and a half to eat and if you were not watching another dog would eat her food (that is why Eddie is chunky).

It's those habits that are so hard to break. I remember when my little Mooney died, I had a hard time with breaking all the habits in place for his care. He was old, blind, deaf, crippled, etc. so I did a lot for him. With that need gone, ones system is shocked at first.

We will eventually get used to her being gone but we will never stop loving or remembering her.

Next to Last Photo of Daisey

Our annual in front of the tree shots. I also have a Santa photo I need to scan.

Missing Miss Daisey

Alot has happened since I have last been able to post. (Using computer at work, home still times out even with new internet server and new computer) and the most recent and heartbreaking is the sudden passing of my Daisey girl.

Dec 18th she was on the bed with me getting loving and all three dogs (my two and a foster) ran outside for squirrel chasing. About 5 - 10 minutes later heard a strange sound, went outside and found her down on the patio with Eddie & Diamond over her. She was not breathing but her heart was beating.

Brought her in, felt for an obstruction and found nothing, tried to breath in her mouth, her bladder let loose and I knew. Felt for a heartbeat and there was none.

The vet examined her, as did I, and we found nothing external. We are thinking a sudden heart attack or stroke. Since an autopsy would not bring her back, I chose not to have her opened up.

I am very sad but relieved that she is back with us (her ashes) and I have wonderful memories of a very special little girlie.
