I'm Home!

So hard leaving my Dad. I have much more to say about the hospital and all but I'm still catching up for now. TTYL

Limited Internet

I'm in Litle Rock, leaving tomorrow. Dad had successful implant of pacemaker/difibulator. No idea if I spelled that correctly, LOL.

There's no WiFi here but everyone once in a while I can 'borrow" an unsecured line for a few minutes. Today it is coming in as low instead of very low so I can get to the blog site but photos and backgrounds don't load.

Thanks to everyone for their well wishes and prayers for my Dad. Also, thank you to the pet lovers out there who were concerned about Daisey. Hubby says it is like nothing ever happened now.

Whoops, I just lost internet connection so not sure this will even post. Crossing fingers and toes!

On My Way To Arkansas

to see my Dad at the Arkansas Heart Hospital. I'm doing laundry and packing tonight but will try to find time to post photos from the weekend with a future post date. By the way, Daisey was OK. turned out to be a pulled muscle in her neck.

Catching Up

Hello Blogger friends! I've been busy with family and a few little emergencies lately. I've got lots of photos to catch up with so let's get started!

Sarah's ocean-themed birthday cake. She was four years old last Wednesday. Wow - how time flies! This was the family party plus a little neighbor girl. On Saturday they went to a beach house but we had plans with Jerry's cousin Maureen who was visiting from Philadelphia.

I write a lot about my cousin Erica and her mom Lea but I'm not sure i've ever had a photo of Lea's husband Don. He is the perfect southern gentlemen.

Erica & Scott dishing up the cake. The little neighbor girl Gracie was so shy and quiet. When we asked her if she wanted something she would whisper a response.

There' Lea! My first cousin. A proud grandma.

Wierd photo of me and Jerr. Something about the angel I took this photo makes it turn out strange. Or, maybe we are just strange! LOL

The Tinkerbelle costume we got for Sarah. I wasn't sure what to get a 4 year old.

No more quiet shell! Once the girls donned the new princess outfits they were energized and went around inviting us to the night ball.
For some reason the photo of my mom isn't loading.......humm

The Weekend

Friday night, before the Daisey emergency, Jerry's visiting cousin Maureen came over and we went to see the movie Julia/Julie. Enjoyed the movie & seeing Maureen. This photo was taken just moments before Daisey hurt herself. (Don't worry - all is well now.)
Saturday night we went to Al Fresco in Dunedin. They have the BEST chicken parmesan although I had the Alaska halibut ;) Maureen and Marge enjoying the best seats in the house.

Jerry at the restaurant. Hard to believe looking out the windows that only moments before it was raining. LOL
Before we left Jerry bought desserts to go and we went to my mom's for coffee. I split the desserts into multiple pieces so we could try a little piece of several ;)

All around the table at Mom's. Jerry, Marge, Maureen, and mom.

Rough Day

I have more cuzzie photo but I'm sleepy from being at the emergency vet with Daisey last night and then sleeping with one eye open because she wouldn't lay down all night.

Got a call this morning that my Dad is in the hospital. Prayers welcome.

Laissez Les Bon Temps Roulez

Some of my New Orleans relatives are here on vacation. Mom and I visited with them Monday night but I stayed out too late to post that night ;) They were a lot of fun and I really enjoyed our visit. I hope to see them again soon.
My mom on the left and cousin-in-law Thania on the right. I remember Thania from when I was a child and we lived in New Orleans. She was so very cool - a career woman, smart, funny. She is married to my first cousin , Bill, but he grew up with my mom so he "feels" more like an uncle. That happens in large families where mothers and daughtes are having babies at the same time.

Three generations of beautiful women: Thania with her daughter Denise (my first cousin once removed) and Denise's daughter Sarah (my first cousin twice removed). The last time I saw this part of the family was at my Grandmother Barnes funeral in 1993 and Sarah was a toddler.

Sarah, me, Denise, and mom which is technically four generations just not direct lineage.
Maybe one day I will darken their doorstep in New Orleans around the time of Mardi Gras!

Naughty or Nice

Over the weekend I opened up a very old picture frame to remove the photo and tucked between the cardboard behind the photo and the actual hard back of the frame was this old newspaper clipping from Dec 1964.

It's my first grade class! Can you believe it? I'm the one next to Santa and he is turned toward me as though I have done something naughty, LOL.

A Little Help From My Friend

Trying to layout quilt blocks is an adventure when there are rat terriers in the house!

Aunt Mary

I haven't been blogging much because I have been working hard on genealogy. I tend to get tunnel vision when I do family research. In sorting through boxes of stuff, I found these old photo (click on for larger view).

These photos are of my mom's sister Mary. The upper left photo is her with her parents a.k.a. my grandma & grandpa Barnes. The upper right one is with her husband Larry although they probably weren't married at the time. They recently celebrated their 50th anniversary.

The bottom left photo looks like Uncle Larry is putting a ring on her finger. Could it be an engagment photo? I'm thinking the one on the right is prom as there were many of her in the same dress and flower taken at different locations - no date int he photos though. Wonder what that means? Humm.......

I guess these photos will tell me if she checks my blog! LOL

Dinner At Mom's

We went out to dinner with the mom's tonight. Jerry chose Smokey Bones because they had a $10 off coupon for checks of $20 or more. It was such a good deal that they had loooooong waiting lines. Luckily, we got there early and only had to wait 25 minutes ;) Butm, let's talk about last weekend!

My Mom cooked dinner at her condo instead of us going out last week. Doesn't she set a lovely table? She searched high and low to get that set of dishes because they are sold by the piece and no store had the whole set. I believe it was worth it because they seem to make her happy and may have brought out some creativity (lots of new recipes).

Erica & Sarah. They weren't feeling well but they joined us anyway. Poor Erica felt so poorly that she slept on my mom's couch after dinner. Despite her feeling awful and not wearing makeup, she is still a cutie! She definetly got the cute gene in our family :)

Fried chicken with some Polish sausage and red potatoe wedges. Yummy!

My Cousin Lea & Jerry. Lea is dishing out some fried okra. Now don't turn your nose up, my mom makes good fried okra. Lea is my first cousin and Cousin Erica is her daughter (and Sarah is cousin Erica's daughter) so I had my first cousin, my first cousin once removed, and my first cousin twice removed at the table. How cool is that?

Marge waiting for the rest of us to sit down. Those are pinto beans right above the text. Love them. Amaizing how bad they smell when you burn them though. It's an odor you will never forget.
