I'm giving this one a try. The dogs LOVE it. I said to the lady at Pet Food Warehouse that I was thinking of warming it up in a tomato sauce and then pouring it over pasta. You should have seen her face! It is sold from refrigerated cases so am thinking she thought that I thought it was human food. LOL
I don't know if it is the ongoing flea issue or it is the weekly change in dog food but Eddie has itchy patches almost void of fur. I don't feed anything with corn or grain but something is up.

NPR Sunday Puzzle ***Spoiler Alert***
This puzzle.....
Name an item often found on a desk. It's a hyphenated word. Add an 'S' to the beginning of each part, and you'll get two synonyms. What's the item?
.....has been bugging me all week. I even went online to find out if anyone else was blogging about it. They were and they weren't giving up the answer! I finally figured it out tonight and I am willing to share but then again, I could be wrong. I sent in my answer feeling about 80% sure I am right.

Cajun Dinner
In the spirit of Mardi Gras, Jerry & I had dinner at the Cajun Cafe on the bayou.
We started with a Caun cornbread that contained a layer of cheese and a layer of Crawdad meat all in a peppered corn bread. Yummy.
Green Thumb Sunday
Green Thumb Sunday = my sad garden :(
It's that time of year when so much needs done yet it is best ot wait until March is offically here in case we have a drop in temperature (like we did a couple nights ago). I read about this concept in the paper, and dismissed it, several years ago when we had a very beautiful early February. Sure enough, late February brought temperatures that were harmful to newly trimmed plants. So, I wait....and wait.....and wait.

This is looking through the screen porch from the north side
The small border garden on the north side of the screen porch where I took the first photo.
Across the walkway from the previously shown border garden. This space has been hard to maintain plantings. Possibly because it get southern sun agaisnt a fence so it's hot and very sunny. It's narrow and there's no sprinkler head on this side of the walkway.
My little vignette. A bromeliad in my favorite pot, an outdoor spider plant (who knew you could grow them outside?), and a small planter where everything dies so I now have garden debris in it - the bamboo sticks are from a windchime that rotted.

Mardi Gras Wreath, Part Deux

Mardi Gras Wreath
I made a Mardi Gras wreath for my front door tonight. I bought most of the supplies at Michael's & the Dollar Tree so is cost under $15. I already had the gold ribbon and the floral wire. It's been a while since I made a wreath - I forgot how fun it is!
I have to make a second one because I have double doors. I am thinking about it, probably too much, because I am not sure if I should make them identical or change it up a bit.
Let the good times roll!
Kitty Slippers
I got up in the middle of the night the other night because the ratties were making noise in the backyard (probably an oppossum on the fence) but didn't turn on any lights to avoid disturbing DH. I was looking for my slippers in the dark and saw them kinda half under the living table, where i usually leave them, and tried to put one foot in and got a surprize - they moved. The dark fuzzy "slipper" was my cat Annie! Scared the heck outta both of us :)

Litterbug
Litterbug = my pet peeve! And by golly was I peeved yesterday.
So, I was driving west on 1st avenue in St. Pete talking to my Dad on the cell phone (I know, I know, but he was in the hospital) and I was following behind a cab, taxi, whatever you call it. (Is there a difference?) Anyway, I see this cab driver arm come out and throw trash out the window! I could not believe my eyes.
As I am talking to my Dad I am fishing through my purse (phone on sholder now) trying to locate a pen to write down the cab's licence# when it dawns on me I could just hang up and call because the phone number of the company is on the vehicle!
So I call them and say I want to make a complaint about a driver. They asked "what did he do?" I explained the driver is throwing his trash out the car on 1st avenue and littering the city downtown. They asked if I could identify the car. I said that I could because I am behind it in traffic right now and gave them the car#, licence plate info, make, model & color of the vehicle although I suspect they are all white with the black bat logo.
He said "OK" but it just didn't feel like enough dialog to me so I asked him if the company was going to take responsibility for the trash. I believe the question surprized him but he said yes and assured me they would look into it.
Do you believe there is a chance in you-know-where that they sent that cab driver to pick up his/her trash?
I took this photo from the web site and blocked out the faces because I have no idea who was in that cab - I was behind him/her. I asked a coworker who used to be a St. Petersburg police officer if I had called the police instead of report littering if they would have come. She said it has been a long while since she was on the force but that it was unlikely. She said the police would probably have to witness the littering to write a ticket.
So basically there is no recourse unless the cab company follows through on it's word :(

Our First Valentine's Day...
...as a married couple. I took a beginning cake decorating class at Frederick & Nelsons while living in Seattle. I moved the few supplies with me to Alaska so on our first Valentine I finally went for it and made my sweetie a cake (scanned non digital photo from the 80's). It was 3 layers of cake with raspberry filling between - all from scratch too. Yummy!
